January here in Cagary it was minus 30 degrees. So yep I hid in the Casino Poker room for the day.

10 players on the table (we all knew each other regular players), playing some 5/10 with a couple of the players also loose agressive.

I had approximately 1600.00 in front of me, after my initial buy in of 700.00 and had been playing for 4 hours.

I was on the button and was dealt 22. UTG raised to 60.00, 6 called. I didnt want to play my 22, so i raised to 400.00. 3 folded, 3 called. I know I shouldnt have entertained the idea of a raise, but I knew some were priced in by the pot odds and a couple simply loose agressive and wanted to clear the table.

I was WORRIED!

Flop comes AQ2 (rainbow). UTG bets 400.00, 2 others called, I saw no threat and smooth called.
Turn was 2 (AQ22).

UTG pushes his monster stack of a few thousand, one folds, the other calls all in, I called the all in

River comes a K

UTG has QQQ22, another player has AAA22, I have 2222.

Then I realized it was the casino's bad beat board (quads over boat AAA or better)

So I got the monster pot with had 5-6k in it, the casino gave me 50.00 for the quads and 5k for the winning hand, all players at the table got 780.00 each, and the AAA22 had got 10k.

we felt sorry for QQQ22, i think the worst bad beat I have seen or delivered. I gave him 250.00 and Henry (bad beat winner) gave him 500.00.

Cards are cards, luck is luck, but I dont ever want someone to hand my ass to me like that!

Steve

Nice hand, wish I was in it. I've played tons of hours live and have never even been at the table when a bad beat jack pot hit. Most places I've played do aces full of tens or better for Holdem though. The best bonus I've gotten live was $500 for high hand of the hour.

Grey Eagle casino in Calgary at one point over xmas had 6 bad beats to give away with a 20k ceiling maxed on the tables. They had too much bad beat money and had to lower.

It is normally aaa1010 or better.

It was a sick hand. I actually felt very bad for beating Henry that way.
